Okay first off, I know that I did say that I was not going to write anymore, well not on my blog. However, I have decided that for some reason I cannot stop writing and who knows this could be a one-time post. Also, you should know that this may end up being a very lengthy post. So read on if you so desire and if not, that’s cool too. I do not really care one way or the other; I am just going to write.
So as you may or may not know my 23rd birthday is quickly approaching and every year I spend time to reflect on the year (or more) before and look to the future to see if I can tell where I am going. And that is going to be the basic idea of this post. I have done and been though a lot in my life not all bad and not all good. And yes I realize I will only be 23 and there are many more things to go through, I have not been through them all so please do not lecture me on that. I will not go through everything because well it would take forever and some of it you just do not need to know. So right now I am only going to focus on key points especially as I do look to my future.
The first moment I want to point out is the race at Chicagoland in 2011. As many of you know that was the race that JTG Daugherty Racing so graciously took my mom and me to the race via hot passes. I know that lately I have been saying things that have not really been on the good side about that race and going (and about the team). The reason for that is because it’s easier to try to hate it and try to forget it happened, because it was simply the best weekend ever. I do highly respect everything this team has done for me as well as for all of their fans. They have been awesome as keeping us updated through the week and weekend. I mean the chat room as a whole is amazing (thanks to Gib for creating and adding in elements to it). For Todd to take that time to come in and relay information when he can and update twitter and facebook and answer questions as best he can is so awesome. I have no idea how he does it all. And I mean sure other teams have their twitter PR to update and answer questions, but this team goes above and beyond and do not get enough credit, even from me. I was lucky, nothing more than that. I will be forever grateful to Al and Gib for their advice and time about school when I probably was just being really annoying. For years, I had dreamed what it would be like to be behind the wall (or in the car) and they were able to give me that glimpse. I can never repay them for that no matter how hard I may try. For as long as I have been a NASCAR fan, I have had to put up with people that could not understand why I enjoyed it so much. I still have a few of those people, but mostly I have filled my life with those that do understand. I have grown as a fan in more ways than I could even think of when I first started watching.
Along those same lines, as far as racing goes, I have been so blessed with all that I have been able to do as well as for the many friends I have made and some met. To be allowed to be the “official record keeper” for JTG Daugherty Racing has been amazing; stressful sometimes, but overall wonderful. And now to add in being able to do a little in helping the TSMFanCrew is beyond anything I would ever dream could ever happen. And although neither one is paid or highly recognized, I am thrilled and honored to be a part of each of them. I love being able to help and be useful rather than just in the way.
Okay seeing as how my birthday is tomorrow and it’s taken me days to get this much finally written out, I will save the rest of my thoughts for another time after my birthday. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
