I was reviewing the race chat from the race the other night and I just want to add in a few of my thoughts about that particular chat as well as the chats in general. I cannot promise it's going to be sunshine and rainbows in these particular thoughts, so the weak of heart and mind be wary.
The first topic I want to cover is this whole boring race thing. I swear I want to hurt you people every time someone says that the race is boring. If it was that boring you would turn it off so just shut up. Now the reason this really bugged me during this past race at Daytona is because everyone assumes it's not boring because I have more than one driver to root for and therefore if at least one is doing well it automatically makes the race not as boring(for me especially if it's Kasey doing better than Bobby). The reason that I do not find any race at Daytona boring is because I've been to the Pepsi 400 3 times and the Coke Zero 400 once. I can image myself standing there watching the cars go by me. I've experienced the excitement of Daytona and there's nothing that will ever take that feeling away. The Pepsi 400 in 2003 was my first race and Greg Biffle's first win, not to mention the fact that Bobby almost won that race but of course he ran out of gas. *sigh* Anyway, that race is embedded in my mind. The next year we went back and this year Jeff Gordon won. I remember this because the year before they had given us coupons that were good for a free Pepsi if Jeff G won the race and he didn't, but they didn't give us the coupons the year he did win. It just figured, plus the rain. It rained for hours and the race didn't end until early July 4th and it really was the well the 4th of July, so the fireworks really counted. Then in 2005, we back for a 3rd time. This time Tony Stewart won. I remember this because it was the first race that he climbed the fence after his win. It's great to be there for the first of something and I got both Biffle's win and Stewart climbing the fence. How could Daytona not be exciting. But wait I'm not finished. The 4th and final time(so far) that we went was in 2008 to the Coke Zero 400. The first Coke Zero 400. And who won that race? None other than Kyle Busch is the #18 car that I had waited so long to be at a race and have it go to Victory Lane, unfortunately is was Kyle Busch. Now, as much as we were inclined to leave as soon as the checkered flag waved, we stayed a little longer for the victory lap and burnout or whatnot. Why you might ask. It was because of the fact that he drove to the Superstretch, got out, and bowed to us. He's probably never gotten as many cheers for anything else as he did that night. He definitely earned respect that night from everyone on that side. No one ever pays attention to side of the track where the start/finish line isn't. However, by now he's pretty much lost most of the respect he earned that night. So to tell me that I am prejudiced as to why a race at Daytona is not boring to me is just out of whack. As far as the other races that were also apparently boring that were not boring to me is the fact that I see on average about 20-30 of each race. I'm always too busy copying and pasting and trying to pay attention to the chat and trying to find answers and retweeting tweets, that the 20-30 laps I see are precious to me, because honestly I hardly ever know what the heck is going on in the race.
The next issue is a pretty quick topic. The Juan Pablo Montoya (or anyone that wrecks "all the time"). Seriously, I do not find these jokes or comments funny or witty or interesting what-so-ever. Maybe it's because I am no fun or do not have a sense of humor, but whatever the case, just knock it off. With JPM running into the jet dryer, we get it already. How you people get anyway with the same old stuff all the time, I have no idea. It quite diminishes your credibility in my eyes. I never know when to take people seriously if all the do is joke around and make unnecessary comments about the same drivers over and over again. This actually includes comments about Bobby and the team, which I will address in a topic after my next topic.
This topic is about the excessive misspelling of drivers' names. I don't care if you're joking or not, spell names correctly. If you do not know how to spell it use the (?) or there is a leaderboard right there or go look it up. Many of these drivers have been racing long enough that if your a pretty good fan, you really should know how to spell the names.
Okay, the next topic: banning. The JTG Daughtery Racing race representative, generally Todd, has every right to ban whomever he likes, when ever he likes. I am pretty sure he has given out enough warnings that if you don't understand where the lines are then you're in the wrong place. The chat room is a privilege, not a right. Respect the team and Bobby. We don't want to hear everything that you think is wrong and how it should be fixed or whatever. If you don't like the way things are run or are going, then do us all a favor and just leave. Spammers are no fun and just annoying. Grow up and deal with the fact that not everything will go the way you want it to.
The last and I promise quick topic is just the overall idiocy of some people. Seriously, if you have no idea what you are talking about, please stop talking or asking really stupid questions. They just take up space that could be used for real comments and questions. Take your idiocy and go find some predetermined bashing site and let it out there. Leave the Facebook pages and the chat room alone, we will appreciate it.
Thanks for reading, I apologize for the length of this post. I only wish I could this much effort into some of m
